One of the quiet pleasures of a holiday in Pembrokeshire is discovering its independent shops. Rather than large shopping centres, the county offers something far more memorable: family-run stores, coastal outfitters, traditional mills, harbour-side boutiques and farm stalls filled with local produce.

If you’re staying with us in Broad Haven, you’ll find plenty of wonderful places to browse within a short drive (and sometimes just around the corner). Whether you’re searching for beach gear, Welsh gifts, fresh seafood or artisan treats to take home, shopping in Pembrokeshire is part of the holiday experience.

For many visitors, it’s also part of the ritual of arriving in Broad Haven: stepping into the shop, smelling the neoprene and wax, and knowing the sea is only moments away.

Fresh Seafood from the Pembrokeshire Coast

Just over the hill from Broad Haven is the charming fishing village of Little Haven. This picturesque harbour is not only beautiful but also a wonderful place to find some of the freshest seafood in the county.

Lobster and Môr specialises in locally caught seafood including crab and lobster landed along the Pembrokeshire coast. If you enjoy cooking during your stay, picking up fresh seafood here can make for a memorable holiday meal.

Many guests say that enjoying fresh crab after a day exploring the coast becomes one of the highlights of their Pembrokeshire holiday.

A little further along the coast you’ll find the marina at Milford Haven, where the waterfront area has become a popular spot for relaxed shopping and dining.

Milford Haven Waterfront combines boutique shops, cafés and restaurants overlooking the marina. Boats bob gently in the harbour while visitors browse gift shops or stop for coffee with a view of the water.

It’s a lovely place to spend a slow afternoon — part shopping trip, part coastal stroll.

The harbour village of Solva is known for its colourful houses, scenic harbour and wonderful independent shops.

One favourite stop is Window on Wales, a treasure trove of Welsh gifts and homewares. From ceramics and textiles to locally inspired artwork, it’s an excellent place to find something that truly reflects the spirit of Wales.

Nearby you’ll also find one of Pembrokeshire’s most fascinating heritage businesses.

Just outside the village stands Solva Woollen Mill, the oldest working woollen mill in Pembrokeshire.

Here you can see traditional weaving techniques still in action and browse beautiful Welsh textiles including blankets, rugs and scarves. Many of the patterns are inspired by the landscape and colours of the coast.

It’s both a working mill and a fascinating glimpse into local craftsmanship — and of course an excellent place to pick up a truly unique Welsh souvenir.

The small cathedral city of St Davids is full of character and independent shops celebrating local food and craft.

A particularly interesting stop is Really Wild Emporium. The shop focuses on wild and foraged ingredients from the Pembrokeshire landscape, including seaweed-based products, herbal teas, artisan preserves and natural goods inspired by the coast. The shop is also the home of the Really Wild Soap & Skincare Company; all natural, small batch and eco-concious soap and skincare products.

Browsing the shelves here offers a glimpse into the rich natural larder of Pembrokeshire and how local producers work closely with the land and sea.

Another wonderful way to experience shopping in Pembrokeshire is by visiting a local farmers’ market. Across the county you’ll find stalls filled with cheeses, honey, fresh vegetables, chutneys and baked goods made by local producers.

Markets are not just about shopping — they’re a chance to meet the people who grow, bake and create the food. Many visitors say these markets are where they discover their favourite Pembrokeshire flavours.

A Different Kind of Shopping Experience

What makes shopping in Pembrokeshire special is its character. Instead of large chain stores, you’ll find independent businesses, local craftspeople and shops inspired by the surrounding coastline.

You might leave with a Welsh wool blanket, a jar of local honey or a beautifully crafted souvenir — but just as often, the real memory is the friendly conversation with a local shopkeeper or discovering something unexpected along the way.

And when you return to the seafront at Broad Haven after a day exploring, those little discoveries become part of the story of your holiday.
